Why object now ?

The purpose of this part of the process is for people to express their views on how they will be affected if the NATS proposals are implemented. This may be difficult to gauge at this time as there is a vast amount of conflicting information available.

While the 'Hold' or 'Stack' is not situated directly over Hargrave, the exit from the Stack (or Red Route) is shown as flying directly over Hargrave. This is the main area of concern as this will cause considerable environmental pollution in terms of noise and CO2 emissions.

What we can be sure of is that there will be increased aircraft movements over Hargrave. There will be increased aircraft noise from up to 33 aircraft per hour flying as low as 4000 ft. These are the facts that are given by NATS as a worst case scenario.

We are also told that the 'Hold' or 'Stack' is only used at busy periods. That the Westerly approach is only used 2/3 of the time. That most aircraft will be directed to Stansted without the need to enter the hold along with various other statements that suggest the situation will not be as bad as that outlined above.

However we can be sure that if these proposals are accepted there will be a significant increase in the amount of aircraft in the skies over and around Hargrave. The exact numbers and flying heights are currently unclear, but they will be there and they will cause a disturbance.  We have until the 19th June to raise our objections and to influence the decision that will ultimately be made by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) when the consultation period is over and all objections have been recorded.
