The Extraordinary Parish Council Meeting on 12th June 2007. All actions to date were reviewed and discussed. The petition had been taken around the whole village, and while a proportion of households had no one in, 118 signatures were obtained and only 7 people declined to sign. This was deemed to be a strong mandate for the Parish Council to formally raise objections on behalf of the village. A letter will be drafted and submitted to NATS including a copy of the petition. Copies will also be sent to the people shown in 'How to Object' para 3. The submitted letter will be posted on this site when available. The meeting was made aware of a demonstration being organised by 'airportwatch' on Thursday 19th June 2008 to coincide with the end of the consultation period. Further information available here.

The Sub-Committee met on Thursday 22nd May 2008. A healthy debate took place on the details of the proposals and how much of the information given by NATS was mis-leading and lacking in detail in key areas. Areas were identified where one proposal contradicted another. However as this is the information we must make our judgement on we all agreed that we must strongly oppose these proposals, taking every possible action. The following actions were agreed. To update the Village of our intentions via the Hargrave Newsletter and this website. To draw up a petition and to try to get everyone in the Village to sign it. To hand everyone a sample letter of objection and the addresses of where to send copies. To contact and join forces with other neighbouring Parish Councils to present a united front. The Parish Council to write to NATS with our objections and include the master copy of the petition.

The special meeting following the Parish Council meeting on Thursday 15th May 2008 was well attended by over 50 people. Much information was shared and at the end of the meeting it was agreed that we would need to do everything possible to oppose these proposals. Every person should raise their objections in one way or another. The objections however need to be reasoned and factual. A sub committee was formed to investigate and formulate factual reasons for objection. These will be published on this site after the committee meets on Thursday 22nd May.
