How the syndicate works |
1) |
The order date is set and orders are invited from all syndicate members. |
2) |
Then a number of suppliers are contacted and a price quote obtained for 1,000 litres and then for the bulk amount, say typically 25,000 litres. This enables us to identify the savings made by bulk buying as opposed to buying just 1,000 litres. |
3) |
When all quotes are received the order will be placed with the cheapest supplier and a delivery date agreed. |
4) |
The order will then be e-mailed to the supplier with everyone's order and delivery details. |
5) |
The supplier will check each person on the order against their credit history records to check if they have supplied you with oil before. If you have had more than 2 previous deliveries they will deliver your order, give you an invoice which you can pay on delivery by cheque or post the cheque within their stated timeframe. (usually 5 days) or pay over the phone by Credit/Debit card. |
6) |
If you do not have credit history of more than 2 previous deliveries with this supplier they will contact you to arrange payment in advance by card or maybe arrange for you to pay on delivery. This will only happen the first 2 times you take a delivery from this particular supplier. |
7) |
The delivery takes place on the agreed date and each household receives their own invoice which they are responsible for paying. Note: If you do not pay in time they may add a credit charge. |
| The above is probably exactly the same as you would do if you placed the order yourself, just that you will receive a discount for being part of a bulk order. |
